(What kind of clients do you work for? ie.)
I’m a graphic designer, typographer and font developer focusing on corporate design, book and magazine design, poster design and font design.
What is your direction in graphic design? How would you characterize your style?
Clear, conceptual and multidisciplinary. The starting point of my design is always content; everything else is a result of the content.
Place of work
Pforzheim and Karlsruhe, Germany
A short description about the font
Basic is a reduced font developed with a strong grid. The results are straight and graphic with strong letters that inspire engraving templates or an architectural stencil typeface from the 70s. The rounded edges make the letters in big playful while simple and ‘basic’ in small. The Basic family includes three different weights with corresponding italics (6 weights in total) and can be used for big headlines and small texts.
How did you come up with the name of the font?
The name was derived from the construction and design elements.
Why did you design this font?
I think this font has a right to exist.
What is the ideal usage of your font?
There is no ideal usage. Designers should do their own research and see how they can use the font. I don't want to set limits.
Do you think that too many fonts exist?
Your future plans?
Make a sans serif and serif text font family.
